The European Union is ready to support Armenia as the country moves toward closer integration with the bloc, European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos said at a briefing at the European Parliament.

“We are ready, and if they fulfill their commitments, we will fulfill ours. Armenia is really moving toward the European Union. At the moment, it is the only country with which we are negotiating visa liberalization,” Kos said, according to Armenpress.

She also highlighted the EU’s support for the Armenian economy, pointing to challenges facing the country’s trade relations with Russia.

“We support [Armenia] on many issues because Russia has banned imports from your country,” Kos said.

The EU official added that the bloc has also introduced a special package of measures aimed at supporting Armenia’s economic development.
