Yerevan to Host WHO Tobacco Control Summit in 2027

On November 22 in Geneva, Switzerland, during the 11th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control and the fourth session of the Meeting of the Parties to the Protocol to Eliminate Illicit Trade in Tobacco Products, Armenia was selected as the host country for the 12th Conference of the Parties (COP12) and the fifth session of the Meeting of the Parties (MOP5), The Caspian Post reports citing Armenian media.

WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control is the first international legal instrument in the field of public health. It aims to protect present and future generations from diseases and deaths caused by tobacco consumption and exposure to tobacco products. The Conference of the Parties is the Convention’s highest decision-making body. It meets every two years to review progress, evaluate implementation, and adopt new measures to prevent and control the tobacco epidemic.
