A New Player in Baku’s Defense Strategy

Azerbaijan and Slovakia signed a contract within the framework of the World Defense Show held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The parties signed a framework contract for the purchase of SAM-120 automatic mortars, manufactured by the Slovak arms factory ZŤS Spéciál, according to Slovak newspaper Pravda, The Caspian Post reports.

According to Slovakia’s Minister of Defense, Robert Kaliňák, negotiations for the first phase of the contract have been completed, which includes the delivery of 96 mortars.

The Minister emphasized that the framework agreement reflects two key areas of cooperation between Slovakia and Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defense Industry.

He added that this project is a new direction for Slovakia and expressed satisfaction with the trust placed in him.

"Other countries are also showing interest in this matter," the minister highlighted.

On behalf of Slovakia, the contract was signed by the director of ZŤS Spéciál, Miroslav Šim.
