Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Digital Development and Transport and US-based SpaceXAI have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in artificial intelligence solutions and related digital technologies.
The agreement provides for exploring the use of AI solutions based on SpaceXAI’s Grok models in public services and other priority areas of Azerbaijan’s digital transformation, according to Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Digital Development and Transport.
“The main goal is to create higher-quality, more accessible and efficient public services,” the ministry said, adding that the memorandum will not be limited to a single area and could involve government institutions across the country.
The sides will jointly assess potential AI applications and consider the broader deployment of successful solutions across Azerbaijan’s public sector.
Deputy Minister Rashad Hasanov said Azerbaijan has moved beyond discussions about artificial intelligence and entered the stage of practical implementation.
“Partners in this area are selected based on the contribution they can make to the process. SpaceXAI has advanced artificial intelligence models and extensive engineering capabilities,” Hasanov said.
He added that the memorandum would provide a framework for exploring the use of these technologies in areas ranging from the internal operations of government agencies to citizens’ access to services through mygov, as well as their potential integration into Azerbaijan’s national digital infrastructure.
Dustin Yelinek, Head of Strategic Pursuits at SpaceXAI, said the company was pleased to cooperate with Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Digital Development and Transport.
He said SpaceXAI aims to introduce Grok into public administration and help provide citizens with faster and higher-quality services.
The two sides also agreed to cooperate on strengthening local capabilities, sharing knowledge and expertise, and developing relevant skills.
A roadmap for the next stages of cooperation will also be developed. It is expected to include pilot projects, technical demonstrations and engagement with stakeholders, creating a basis for potentially expanding successful AI solutions.
SpaceXAI is described by the ministry as a division of US space company SpaceX working in artificial intelligence and social media.
