Azerbaijan Hosts OIC Parliamentary Conference With Delegations From Over 40 Countries

Baku has become the center of high-level parliamentary diplomacy as the Azerbaijani capital hosts the 20th Session of the Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

The event has brought together parliamentary delegations from more than 40 countries, speakers of parliament from over 10 nations, and representatives of 10 international organizations, underscoring its importance as one of the largest political gatherings in the Islamic world this year, The Caspian Post reports via Report.

The main theme of the conference is "Promoting Sustainable and Inclusive Economic Development in OIC Member States Through Parliamentary Cooperation." Participants are expected to discuss ways to strengthen economic ties, boost cooperation, and address shared regional and global challenges.

More than 400 delegates are expected to attend the session, which features speeches by parliamentary speakers, deputy speakers, and representatives of international institutions.

Alongside the plenary discussions, a series of meetings will be held involving the organization's General Committee, Executive Committee, Association of Secretaries General, and specialized committees on political affairs, international relations, economic and environmental issues, legal and cultural matters, dialogue among civilizations and religions, human rights, as well as women's and family issues.

Delegates will review and debate a wide range of policy documents and proposals aimed at enhancing cooperation among OIC member states.

The conference is scheduled to conclude on June 25, with participants expected to adopt a number of resolutions and recommendations on key issues facing the Islamic world.
