Azerbaijan, Montenegro Explore Investment Opportunities

Azerbaijan’s Finance Minister Sahil Babayev has met with a visiting Montenegrin delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ervin Ibrahimovic.

The officials highlighted that bilateral relations, rooted in friendship, mutual respect, and partnership, are built on the Declaration of Friendship and Partnership signed during Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s official visit to Montenegro in 2013, The Caspian Post reports via the Azerbaijani Ministry of Finance.

Babayev emphasized the role of the Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation in transforming political will into tangible economic outcomes. He noted that the next commission meeting, scheduled for March 2026, will cover areas including trade, green energy, tourism, infrastructure, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and increased investment in Azerbaijan’s non-oil sector.

The meeting also addressed trade and investment opportunities, with Montenegrin companies invited to explore projects in industrial zones and other priority sectors in Azerbaijan.

Ibrahimovic stressed that Montenegro values its relationship with Azerbaijan, noting that high-level political dialogue is key to deepening bilateral ties. He also highlighted the potential for expanded cooperation in economy, energy, tourism, and humanitarian areas.

The sides exchanged views on issues of mutual interest, signaling a continued commitment to strengthening Azerbaijan-Montenegro ties.
