Azerbaijan Railways (ADY) is considering the purchase of new passenger trains from China as part of broader efforts to modernize the country’s railway network and improve public transportation services.
During a visit to China, ADY Chairman Rovshan Rustamov met with Wang Qiaolin, head of CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive Co., one of the world's leading railway equipment manufacturers, The Caspian Post reports via ADY.
The talks focused on Azerbaijan’s potential acquisition of four new passenger trains for interregional routes, aimed at enhancing rail connectivity across the country.
The parties also discussed the possible purchase of 20 additional passenger trains under the State Program for the Improvement of Transport Infrastructure in Baku and Surrounding Areas for 2025-2030.
Chinese representatives presented their proposals, while both sides exchanged views on the project's technical and commercial aspects, as well as potential implementation mechanisms.
