Diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Uruguay were established in 1994, shortly after Azerbaijan regained independence. The two countries maintain cooperation within international organizations such as the United Nations and have engaged in dialogue on political, economic, and cultural issues. Uruguay was among the first Latin American countries to recognize Azerbaijan’s independence, and over the years, both sides have expressed interest in strengthening ties, particularly in such areas as trade, education, and parliamentary diplomacy.
