Azerbaijan Takes Over OIC Parliamentary Union Presidency From Indonesia

Azerbaijan has officially assumed the presidency of the Parliamentary Union of the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), taking over the role from Indonesia during a high-profile ceremony in Baku.

The handover took place at the opening of the 20th Session of the Conference of the Parliamentary Union of OIC Member States, one of the largest parliamentary gatherings in the Islamic world, The Caspian Post reports via Report.

More than 400 delegates from OIC member countries, along with representatives of international organizations, are participating in the event, highlighting Azerbaijan’s growing role as a platform for international dialogue and cooperation.

The conference is expected to feature extensive discussions on key issues facing OIC member states, with participants exchanging views on the organization's agenda and exploring ways to deepen cooperation across political, economic and social spheres.

A central goal of the forum is to strengthen inter-parliamentary collaboration within the OIC and promote joint efforts to address common challenges and opportunities across the Islamic world.

As the new chair of the Parliamentary Union, Azerbaijan is set to play a leading role in shaping the organization's priorities and advancing cooperation among member states during its presidency.
