On September 17, Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with Jasurbek Choriev, Secretary General of the Permanent Secretariat of the Intergovernmental Commission TRACECA.
The meeting focused on the current state and prospects of Azerbaijan-TRACECA cooperation, as well as ways to further expand regional transport and communication links, The Caspian Post reports, citing the Foreign Ministry.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted that Azerbaijan attaches particular importance to cooperation within the framework of TRACECA and plays an active role in enhancing transport connectivity between Europe and Asia. In this regard, the officials highlighted that Azerbaijan’s favorable geographical location, modern transport infrastructure and transit potential provide significant opportunities for the effective and sustainable development of regional connectivity.
FM Bayramov briefed the TRACECA official on the measures undertaken at Azerbaijan’s initiative and with its active involvement to develop transport infrastructure, expand the capacity of the Baku International Sea Trade Port, and improve rail and road transport links.
The meeting emphasized the importance of further increasing the capacity of the Middle Corridor, boosting freight volumes along the route, and simplifying and digitizing transit procedures among participating countries.
The sides also exchanged views on the development of regional transport connectivity and other issues of mutual interest.
