An Azerbaijani delegation led by Central Election Commission Chairman Mazahir Panahov is visiting Kazakhstan at the invitation of his Kazakh counterpart, Nurlan Abdirov, to observe the snap parliamentary elections scheduled for August 23 as international monitors.
The Azerbaijani CEC delegation will familiarize itself with preparations for the elections and the activities of election commissions and monitor the voting process at polling stations in Astana on election day, AZERTAC reported.
The delegation will also attend a meeting of the Advisory Platform of the Central Election Authorities of the Member States of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), scheduled to be held in Astana on August 22.
The meeting will feature discussions on the current state and future development of dialogue and cooperation among election administrations, the exchange of best practices in election management, strengthening institutional relations, and other issues.
During the meeting, the Azerbaijani CEC Chairman will hold meetings with his Kazakh counterpart, as well as heads of election management bodies of OTS member states and international organizations participating in election observation, and other officials.
The discussions will address prospects for further deepening inter-agency relations, new opportunities for cooperation in various election-related areas, and issues of mutual interest.
The Azerbaijani CEC delegation is observing Kazakhstan’s snap parliamentary elections as part of international monitoring missions organized by the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TURKPA), the OSCE/ODIHR, and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
