Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has shared a post on her official X account, expressing gratitude to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

"Thank you, Dear President Ilham Aliyev, for these words and sincere friendship that binds our nations. Over the years, Italy and Azerbaijan have built a solid cooperation, founded on a shared vision and interests," Meloni stated, The Caspian Post reported.

"I am very proud of our efforts to further enhance our strategic partnership and I am confident that new and important opportunities for cooperation will emerge in the coming years for the benefit of our peoples," the Italian premier added.

In a post on X, President Aliyev congratulated Meloni on becoming Italy's longest-serving prime minister.

"This historic milestone reflects her strong leadership, political determination, and the confidence of the Italian people. I highly appreciate Prime Minister Meloni’s personal role and valuable contribution to strengthening the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Italy."

"I am confident that our friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation will continue to deepen and expand for the benefit of our countries and peoples," the Azerbaijani leader emphasized.
