One Injured in Landmine Blast in Azerbaijan’s Aghdara District

A man was injured in a landmine explosion on April 26 in the village of Syrkhavand in Aghdara District, according to a joint statement from Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan, Prosecutor General’s Office of Azerbaijan, and Azerbaijan National Mine Action Agency (ANAMA).

The victim, 58-year-old Vugar Ahmadov, a resident of Yenibina village in Khojaly District, suffered a leg injury after an anti-personnel mine detonated in an uncleared area near the former line of contact, The Caspian Post reports via local media.

The incident occurred in territory that has not yet been fully cleared of explosive remnants. Prosecutors in Tartar District have launched an investigation.

Following the explosion, officials again urged citizens to follow mine safety rules, pay attention to warning signs, and avoid unfamiliar or fenced-off areas in liberated territories.
