Strong transport links between the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea could create new opportunities for trade and energy supplies, with Ukraine proposing the development of logistics routes connecting Azerbaijan to European markets.
Ukrainian Energy Minister and co-chair of the Azerbaijan-Ukraine Intergovernmental Commission Denys Shmyhal made the remarks at the opening of the commission's 14th meeting, according to Report.
"It is necessary to develop future logistics routes from Azerbaijan to Ukraine and through Ukraine to Europe. This will be the shortest logistics route, but preparations must begin now," Shmyhal said.
He stressed that the two countries should be ready to launch logistics operations immediately once the war ends and military activity in the Black Sea ceases.
Shmyhal emphasized the importance of starting preparations in advance to ensure that new transport and energy supply routes can become operational as soon as conditions allow.
