Kazakhstan Opens New Edible Oil Refinery

A new vegetable edible oil refinery was officially opened in Semey, Kazakhstan, with a capacity to process 180,000 tons of sunflower seeds annually, producing between 50,000 and 60,000 tons of oil, according to the city"s akimat, The Caspian Post reports citing Kazinform News Agency.

Mayor Nurbol Nursagatov took part in the opening ceremony and congratulated the Agro Oil Group company on the launch of the refinery of great significance for the city.

The refinery is expected to boost the region"s manufacturing sector, increase its export potential and create new workplaces. 50 locals obtained jobs at the plant as of now.

The new refinery is called to meet local demand and supply raw materials and end products throughout Kazakhstan.

The mayor said such enterprises show the growing investment attractiveness of Semey and raise its industrial potential.
