Great Azerbaijani Composer Uzeyir Hajibeyli's Anniversary Marked in Astrakhan

A concert celebrating the 140th anniversary of the distinguished composer, musicologist, playwright, and founder of modern Azerbaijani professional music, Uzeyir Hajibeyli, was held in Astrakhan, Russia.

The event was organized with the support of Igor Babushkin, Governor of the Astrakhan Region, Azerbaijan’s State Committee on Work with Diaspora, the country’s Embassy in Russia, and ABB-Moscow Bank, The Caspian Post reports, citing local media.

The program featured works by renowned Azerbaijani, Russian, and Italian composers, including Uzeyir Hajibayli, Niyazi, Tofig Guliyev, Farhad Badalbayli, Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Giuseppe Verdi, and Giacomo Puccini, performed by leading Azerbaijani musicians accompanied by the Symphony Orchestra of the Astrakhan State Opera and Ballet Theater.
