The cinema hall of the Iğdır Provincial Public Library, established in honor of the 100th Anniversary of the Republic, hosted a performance of Uzeyir Hajibeyli’s musical comedy "If Not That One, Then This One" to mark the 140th anniversary of the prominent Azerbaijani composer.
The cultural project dedicated to Uzeyir Hajibeyli-the founder of Azerbaijani classical music and the composer of the first opera in the East-was supported by the Consulate General of Azerbaijan in Kars and the Iğdır branch of the Türkiye-Azerbaijan Association, The Caspian Post reports citing AZERTAC.
Azerbaijan's Consul General in Kars, Zamin Aliyev, Vice Rector of Iğdır University, Uğur Şimşek, Head of the Iğdır Azerbaijan House Society, Serdar Ünsal, and others participating in the film screening.
The guests were informed about Uzeyir Hajibeyli's cultural legacy, his contributions to the development of the Azerbaijani music school, and the significance of adapting his works for film.
Azerbaijan’s Consul General Zamin Aliyev mentioned that the screening of the musical comedy directed by Huseyn Seyidzade in 1956 coincides with the anniversary of the great composer.
The diplomat expressed hope that such events would contribute to strengthening cultural ties between Türkiye and Azerbaijan.
