Azerbaijan Airlines Suspends Several Baku-Moscow Flights Amid Airspace Restrictions

Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) has temporarily suspended several flights on the Baku-Moscow-Baku route due to restrictions imposed in Russian airspace.

The changes affect flights J2-185/J2-186 on the Baku-Moscow (Domodedovo)-Baku route and J2-805/J2-806 on the Baku-Moscow (Vnukovo)-Baku route, scheduled for October 9, The Caspian Post reports, citing Azerbaijan's national air carrier.

Flight J2-185, which departed Baku for Moscow in the morning, made an emergency landing in St. Petersburg. The aircraft was unable to return to Baku after restrictions in Russian airspace were reintroduced. Meanwhile, the morning flight J2-805 from Baku to Moscow returned to Heydar Aliyev International Airport.

The restrictions have also affected the aircraft's ability to reach their destination airports on schedule and operate subsequent flights. Consequently, the evening flights J2-186 and J2-806 on the respective routes have also been postponed.

AZAL is closely monitoring the situation and taking measures to provide passengers with the necessary assistance. Passengers will be notified of any changes to flight schedules through the airline's official information channels.

Passenger and flight safety remain AZAL's top priorities. All operational decisions are being made in light of the prevailing circumstances and safety requirements.
