Kyrgyzstan’s Manas Airport to Change IATA Code

Starting August 9, 2025, Manas International Airport in Kyrgyzstan will officially adopt a new three-letter IATA code, changing from FRU to BSZ, according to the country's State Civil Aviation Agency.

The decision was made on the basis of Resolution 763 of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), which regulates the procedure for changing codes in the international aviation system, The Caspian Post reports, citing Kyrgyz media.

The new designation will come into force 90 days after receiving the official notification from IATA sent on May 9, 2025.

The IATA code (three-letter airport identifier) is used worldwide for booking tickets, baggage check-in and navigation.

The code change requires technical adjustment of all systems of airlines, agencies, airports and service providers.

The State Civil Aviation Agency and Manas Airport have already begun preparations for the transition in close coordination with international partners, the report said.

The code change is being carried out as planned and will not affect the flight schedule and passenger service, it said.
