Türkiye Remains Key Importer of Russian Wheat

Türkiye remains one of the main destinations for Russian agricultural exports, particularly wheat and sunflower oil, according to Artur Leer, President of the Association of Exporters and Importers (AEI).

He shared the information on the sidelines of the AEI forum, "International Trade Day 2026," The Caspian Post reports.

According to Leer, Russia exported $3.8 billion worth of agricultural products to Türkiye last year, marking a 9% increase compared with the previous year. The total volume of shipments exceeded 12 million tonnes.

Russian wheat and sunflower oil remain the most in-demand products on the Turkish market. In 2026, exports of these commodities were valued at $1.2 billion and $1.1 billion, respectively.

The five leading product categories also included bran, worth $322 million, pulses at $296 million, and oilseed cake and meal valued at $178 million.

"The Turkish market allows Russian companies to expand not only their grain exports but also the sale of vegetable oils, feed ingredients, and other agricultural products," Leer noted.

Data for the 2025-2026 agricultural season show that Russian wheat shipments to Türkiye increased 2.2 times, reaching approximately 7.3 million tonnes, RIA Novosti reports.
