The Ministry of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan on Tuesday held discussions with World Bank representatives to explore ways to support small and micro hydropower projects in the country.
The parties discussed Uzbekistan’s goals in renewable energy, financing opportunities, and technical solutions for the small hydropower sector, The Caspian Post reports, citing Uzbek media.
Representatives of the World Bank noted that new financial mechanisms are being developed to implement projects selected based on previous studies.
They also expressed willingness to share their experience in this area with Uzbekistan. After that, the parties paid attention to improving the electricity supply to rural areas, strengthening energy security, and supporting small businesses through the development of small hydropower plants.
Creating an operational working group and continuing a regular dialogue was noted.
Following the talks, the parties agreed to accelerate practical steps in this direction and strengthen cooperation.
