On November 13, the Gorkut Ata International Film Festival started in Ashgabat.

The event is aimed at promoting cooperation in cinematography and cinema art and presenting the culture of the Turkic peoples to the world community, The Caspian Post reports, citing CentralAsia.news.

The film forum, organised within the interaction of TURKSOY Member Countries, brought together filmmakers and participants from Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Moldova, Turkey and Uzbekistan. The programme of the Gorkut Ata Film Festival includes an exhibition on the history of Turkmen cinematography.

The participants listened to the Congratulatory Address of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who noted that Turkmenistan is a land of friendship, brotherhood and international cooperation. As reported, the Gorkut Ata Film Festival in Ashgabat marks the declaration of the ancient Turkmen city of Anau the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2024.
