IRENA Chief Highlights APRECA Program as Key Opportunity for Central Asia’s Renewable Energy Future

The Accelerated Partnership for Renewable Energy in Central Asia (APRECA) offers substantial opportunities for countries in the region, according to Francesco La Camera, Director General of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), which launched the program.
La Camera made the remarks during the Investment Forum on Energy Transition in Central Asia, held as part of COP29 in Baku, The Caspian Post reports.
“Central Asia is rich in both renewable energy and critical mineral resources, positioning the region to lead in the 21st-century economy and adapt to the rapidly evolving energy landscape,” he said.
He emphasized that APRECA represents a crucial initiative that blends ambition with practical planning and implementation, aimed at harnessing the region's full potential in the renewable energy sector.
