Azerbaijan, European Commission Explore Prospects for Green Energy Cooperation

Parviz Shahbazov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Energy, held a meeting with Cristina Lobillo Borrero, Director of the Energy Platform Task Force at the Directorate-General for Energy of the European Commission.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 30th International Caspian Oil and Gas Exhibition and Baku Energy Forum, The Caspian Post reports, citing Azerbaijan's Energy Ministry.

The meeting highlighted the role of the strategic energy partnership between Azerbaijan and the European Union in ensuring energy security.

The sides discussed the development of infrastructure for the supply of natural gas and renewable energy from Azerbaijan to Europe.

They also reviewed the process of including the “Caspian-Black Sea-Europe Green Energy Corridor” project in the Ten-Year Network Development Plan (TYNDP) of the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E), along with issues related to the “Azerbaijan-Georgia-Türkiye-Bulgaria” and “Central Asia-Azerbaijan” green energy interconnector projects.

The meeting further included an exchange of views on key agenda items for the upcoming 3rd meeting of the Azerbaijan-EU High-Level Energy Dialogue, to be held soon in Brussels.
