BTC Pipeline Delivers 556M Tons of Azerbaijani Oil to Date

According to Azerbaijan’s Energy Ministry, the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline has transported around 556 million tons of Azerbaijani oil since it began operations.

This year marks the 21st anniversary of the commissioning of the Azerbaijani section of the BTC oil export pipeline, The Caspian Post reports, citing Report.

In January-April this year, Azerbaijan transported 8.39 million tons of oil through the BTC pipeline, down 9.9% compared to the same period in 2025.

Of the total volume transported during the reporting period, 82.4%, or 6.9 million tons, consisted of oil produced in Azerbaijan, while 17.6%, or 1.48 million tons, came from Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan. The volume of Azerbaijani oil transported through the pipeline decreased by 10.6%, while shipments from Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan declined by 6.8%.

The BTC pipeline mainly carries oil produced from the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli field block and condensate from the Shah Deniz field. It also transports other crude oil and condensate volumes, including supplies from Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan.

The shareholders in the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli project are BP with 30.37%, SOCAR with 31.65%, MOL Group with 9.57%, INPEX with 9.31%, ExxonMobil with 6.79%, TPAO with 5.73%, ITOCHU with 3.65%, and ONGC Videsh Limited with 2.92%.
