Russia's government has approved a decree extending its comprehensive ban on fuel exports until January 31, 2027, according to a document published on the government's official website.

The government said the temporary restrictions on exports of petrol, diesel fuel, marine fuel and gasoil are aimed at maintaining stability in the domestic fuel market. Under the decree, the ban will be in effect from August 1, 2026, through January 31, 2027, The Caspian Post reports.

Beginning September 1, however, diesel fuel, marine fuel and gasoil exported directly by their producers will be exempt from the restrictions.

The decree also provides exemptions for fuel exports carried out under international intergovernmental agreements, as well as shipments intended for humanitarian assistance to foreign countries, provided they are approved through separate government decisions.
