One of the largest private gas station chains in Eastern Siberia has suspended gasoline sales to retail customers.
BRK, which operates more than 100 gas stations across Russia's Irkutsk region, Buryatia, and Zabaykalsky Krai, stopped selling gasoline to individuals on July 1, The Caspian Post reports, citing The Moscow Times.
The company said the decision was caused by suppliers' "failure to fulfill obligations."
"Over the past two months, not a single type of gasoline has been shipped-either through exchange mechanisms or under direct contracts with producers. This significantly complicated the replenishment of stocks and was the main reason for the restrictions," BRK said in a statement.
Despite the suspension of retail gasoline sales, the company said it will continue supplying fuel to socially important institutions, including medical facilities and housing and utility services.
BRK is the largest independent gas station chain in the region and operates under supply contracts with Gazprom and Rosneft. The company does not own or operate an oil refinery.
