Kyrgyzstan's Average Annual Temperature Rises by 1.12ºC Over 40 Years

Kyrgyzstan has recorded an average annual temperature increase of 1.12ºC (0.28ºC per decade) over the past 40 years. In some regions, the increase has ranged from 0.25 to 0.32ºC per decade, according to data provided by the Ministry of Health's draft resolution.

Data for the period from 1980 to 2020 is reviewed. It is predicted that the temperature will increase by the end of the 21st century (2100), the resolution notes, The Caspian Post reports citing Akipress.

According to the "hard" scenario SSP5-8.5, the temperature will increase by almost 7ºC, according to the "moderate" scenario SSP2-4.5 - by about 3.5ºC.

Such climate changes cause risks associated with heat waves, changes in atmospheric pressure, which negatively affects the health of the population.

A direct relationship has been established between changes in atmospheric pressure and mortality from respiratory diseases. There has also been an increase in infectious diseases, particularly gastrointestinal infections such as salmonellosis, which is associated with rising temperatures and water pollution from floods, the document says.
