Georgia plans to appeal a US court ruling related to its arbitration dispute with Turkish company ENKA, Deputy Justice Minister Beka Dzamashvili said.

Dzamashvili also rejected reports that a Washington court had ordered Georgia to pay ENKA more than $400 million in compensation, according to Sputnik Georgia.

The deputy minister said that the payment obligation arose in 2024 following a ruling by an arbitration tribunal in Paris. Georgia is seeking to have that ruling annulled in French courts.

He explained that the recent decision by the Washington court concerns only the continuation of proceedings to recognize the arbitration award in the US.

Dzamashvili said Georgia intends to appeal the ruling in Washington and continue defending the country’s interests through all available legal jurisdictions.

The dispute centers on Georgia’s arbitration case with ENKA, a Turkish company involved in major infrastructure projects in the country.
