Gunmen have attacked a vehicle belonging to Iran’s Law Enforcement Command (FARAJA) in Mehrestan County, in the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan.

Police officers exchanged gunfire with the attackers, who subsequently fled the scene, Tasnim news agency reports.

One officer sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital but later died.

Security forces are conducting an operation to locate and arrest those responsible for the attack.
