A total of 577 foreign nationals applied for asylum in Armenia in the first nine months of 2026, exceeding the number of applications recorded throughout the previous year.

Iranian citizens accounted for the largest share of applicants, followed by nationals of Ukraine and Russia, according to Sputnik Armenia.

Overall, 316 foreign nationals were granted asylum or refugee status during the reporting period.

For comparison, Armenia received 448 asylum applications from foreign nationals in 2025, of whom 242 were granted refugee status.

The latest figures indicate that the number of asylum applications in Armenia has already surpassed the total recorded for the whole of 2025.
