Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed that it destroyed two US-made Lucas drones near the port of Bandar Khamir in Hormozgan Province.

According to Tasnim News Agency, the drones were shot down by air defence systems operated by the Imam Sajjad unit.

The agency also released footage purportedly showing the interception of a US MQ-9 Reaper reconnaissance and strike drone in the eastern part of the Strait of Hormuz.

The IRGC said the aircraft was detected and destroyed by an air defence missile system operated by its Aerospace Force.

A single MQ-9 Reaper drone is estimated to be worth approximately $30 million.

According to the IRGC, the latest incident brings the total number of US drones of this type destroyed by Iran to 55. The military organization estimates the resulting financial losses at more than $1.65 billion.
