Iran has claimed that its armed forces inflicted more than $20 billion in damage on US military assets during two weeks of military confrontation in July.
The damage estimate is based on the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) assessments of destroyed and damaged US military equipment. Tasnim said its calculations relied on the replacement costs of comparable equipment listed in Pentagon budget documents and US defense contracts, The Caspian Post reports via Tasnim News Agency.
The report claims the largest losses involved US air defense systems and radar equipment, estimated at $7.5 billion. Damage to logistics facilities, warehouses, and military infrastructure was put at $6.8 billion, while losses involving aircraft, drones, and helicopters were estimated at $3.5 billion. The report also valued damage to command and communications centers at $2.8 billion.
The damaged or destroyed assets included four Patriot air defense systems, six Patriot radars, two F-15 fighter jets, one P-8 maritime patrol aircraft, one C-17 transport aircraft, eight aerial refueling tankers, 17 drones, 17 ammunition depots, six missile storage facilities, and dozens of command, radar, and logistics centers.
