Iran has threatened to target undersea internet cables in the Strait of Hormuz if the US launches another attack against the Islamic Republic.

Hossein Mohebbi, a representative of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), issued the warning, claiming that seven major undersea cables pass through the strategic waterway, according to UNIAN.

Mohebbi said that these cables carry global internet traffic and commercial data, making them a critical part of international communications infrastructure.

The IRGC representative warned Washington against launching further attacks on Iran.

The Strait of Hormuz is a strategically important maritime passage connecting the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman. In addition to its role in global energy shipments, the region is significant for international communications because of the undersea cables that cross its waters.
