During a phone conversation on Monday, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC), Major General Mohsen Rezaei, and Putin discussed the latest regional and international developments, focusing particularly on the situation in West Asia, The Caspian Post reports, citing Press TV.
Rezaei expressed appreciation for the explicit statements made by the Russian president and other officials in praise of the role of the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, and other national heroes.
The SNSC secretary also praised Russia’s support for the Iranian people’s resilience and steadfastness.
Iran and Russia officially began executing a 20-year comprehensive strategic partnership treaty in October 2025, marking a significant step towards strengthening their bilateral ties.
The treaty was signed by President Putin and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in Moscow on January 17, 2025.
During a joint press conference with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov in Tehran last month, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said bilateral cooperation can help promote stability in the region, as the two countries reaffirmed their commitment to continued engagement on regional and international issues.
