Iranian authorities seized a foreign barge in the Gulf on Wednesday over the alleged smuggling of around 382,000 liters of diesel fuel and detained 11 foreigners on board.
Security forces launched an operation after receiving information about a barge allegedly transporting smuggled petroleum products in the northern Gulf, The Caspian Post reports, citing Anadolu Agency.
Iranian border guards in Abadan intercepted the vessel and seized the reported 382,000 liters of diesel fuel.
The 11 foreign nationals aboard the barge were also detained. Their nationalities have not been disclosed.
Iranian authorities had not immediately issued an official statement providing further details about the incident.
