Iran has issued a strong warning to South Korea against any military presence or participation in US-led operations in the Persian Gulf and Strait of Hormuz, saying such involvement could have serious consequences.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei made the warning in a post on X.

Baghaei said that despite more than 64 years of diplomatic relations between Iran and South Korea, Tehran would view Seoul’s involvement in US initiatives in the region as “direct support for the aggressor.”

He warned that any South Korean military presence or participation in another country’s military operations in the region would “inevitably lead to serious consequences.”

At the same time, Baghaei stressed that Iran continues to attach importance to its friendly relations with South Korea.

The Iranian diplomat urged Seoul not to give in to pressure from Washington or become what he described as “accomplices in acts of aggression” against Iran.
