Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has said that the country will not give in to US threats or military actions, attributing Washington's hostility toward Tehran to the Iranian nation's resistance.
Addressing an open parliamentary session on Tuesday, Ghalibaf said Iran's resistance had brought the "usurping Zionist regime" and the United States to a state of despair, The Caspian Post reports, citing IRNA.
He said that, having suffered a series of defeats, Washington and Israel sometimes sought to force the Iranian people into submission through threats and military pressure. However, he stressed that they had miscalculated, as Iran would not surrender.
According to Ghalibaf, the two recently imposed wars had demonstrated to the United States and its regional allies that the era of excessive demands was over.
He also noted that the Leader of the Islamic Revolution had established Iran's military strategy for responding to a possible enemy attack.
Ghalibaf said that any miscalculation by an adversary would trigger an unpredictable response from Iran's Armed Forces, without geographical limitations. He added that Tehran would put an end to such miscalculations.
"We maintain the highest level of defense readiness on the field and in the military arena; should Washington commit another strategic error, it should know that, this time, it will face a new war field and will seek an escape route more desperately than it does today," he said.
