Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has stated that Israeli authorities attempted to assassinate him, but the plot was unsuccessful.
The statement was made during an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson, The Caspian Post reports via Russian media.
“Yes, they tried, but they failed,” Pezeshkian said in response to a question about the attempt.
President Pezeshkian revealed that the assassination attempt against him occurred about a week and a half ago, and clarified that the US was not involved in the incident.
“I was in a meeting where we were discussing our next steps. Using intelligence gathered by their spies, [Israel] attempted to strike the area where the meeting was taking place,” he said.
