Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has claimed that Iran attempted to assassinate one of his sons, without specifying which of his two sons was targeted.

Netanyahu made the statement in an interview with Israel’s Channel 14.

“This is an incredible case. Iran targeted one of my sons. Iran tried to kill him,” the Israeli prime minister said.

Netanyahu said the threat was one reason his family is receiving increased protection from Israel’s Shin Bet security service during the election campaign.

“Such security is not a luxury. Without it, they would have succeeded,” he added.
