Afghanistan’s Minister of Industry and Commerce, Nooruddin Azizi, met with Bijar, the Governor of Iran’s Sistan and Baluchistan province, to discuss expanding trade and transit cooperation.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to holding regular bilateral meetings, creating technical teams to monitor implementation of agreements, and strengthening sustainable cross-border trade, the ministry said in a statement the other day, The Caspian Post reports citing foreign media.
During the visit, the two officials also inaugurated a short, temporary dirt route for the movement of commercial vehicles.
Authorities described the new route as a significant step toward easing transportation and deepening economic ties between Afghanistan and Iran.
