Ministry: Iranian FM to Attend High-Level SCO Meeting in China

Spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry Esmail Baghaei has announced that Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi will travel to China this week to attend a high-level ministerial meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

The visit comes at the official invitation of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and highlights the ongoing diplomatic engagement between Tehran and Beijing within multilateral frameworks, The Caspian Post reports, citing local media.

Araqchi is expected to take part in discussions alongside counterparts from other SCO member states, focusing on regional cooperation, economic integration, and security issues.

During the visit, the Iranian foreign minister will also hold bilateral meetings with his Chinese counterpart and several other foreign ministers attending the event. These talks are likely to cover a range of mutual interests, including trade, energy, and regional security developments.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization, which includes major regional powers such as China, Russia, India, and Central Asian nations, serves as a platform for political, economic, and security collaboration across Eurasia. Iran became a full member of the organization in 2023.
