Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has emphasized that Iran has no intention of closing the Strait of Hormuz, clarifying that such an action does not reflect the country’s official stance.

Tehran’s official policy is “absolutely clear” in seeking peace and stability in the vital Persian Gulf waterway, Araghchi said in an interview with Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper during his visit to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to attend a meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) foreign ministers, The Caspian Post reports, citing IRNA.

“Iran is a producer and exporter of oil, and its economy depends heavily on it. That is why it wants free navigation for everyone,” he said

Araghchi emphasized that recent developments in Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, and the Israeli-US assault against Iran exposed to the region who their real enemy is.
