US President Donald Trump said Chinese President Xi Jinping assured him that Beijing is not supplying weapons to Iran.

Speaking to journalists at the White House, Trump said Xi had “promised me that he is not sending any weapons to Iran,” The Caspian Post reports, citing Al Jazeera.

“That’s a beautiful promise. I take him at his word. I appreciated it,” Trump added.

Last month, Beijing dismissed reports claiming that China was preparing to send weapons to Iran, describing the allegations as “groundless.”
