According to a statement from the company reported by Iran's official news agency IRNA on Saturday, a US-Israeli airstrike hit Iran's Khuzestan Steel Company, damaging key production facilities and halting operations.

In a statement, the company’s public relations office said the attack hit several units, including the Direct Reduction Unit 2, the Zamzam 3 mega-module, and the steelmaking section, The Caspian Post reports, citing foreign media.

The statement said the strikes caused production lines to stop, while firefighting and emergency teams were deployed to contain the situation.

Company experts have since begun efforts to stabilize conditions and assess the extent of the damage, it added.

Khuzestan Steel said it is working to resume operations as soon as possible, assuring stakeholders that efforts are underway to restart production in the shortest time.

No information was immediately provided on casualties.

The US and Israel have maintained airstrikes on Iran since Feb. 28, killing so far over 1,340 people, including then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Iran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, along with Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets, causing casualties and damage to infrastructure while disrupting global markets and aviation.
