Almaty Tops Kazakhstan as Most Visited City

Almaty has become the most visited city in Kazakhstan, hosting 1.8 million hotel guests from January to September 2025.

Across the country, 7.8 million visitors stayed in hotels, a 12.4 per cent increase compared to last year, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

Astana welcomed 1.1 million visitors during the same period, while Almaty and Akmola regions each recorded 530,000 guests. Nearly half of all tourists (48.6 per cent) preferred hotels with restaurants, 27 per cent chose hotels without restaurants, and 14 per cent stayed in cottages, houses, or apartments.

Foreign visitors accounted for 13.9 per cent of total guests, mainly from Russia (333,300), China (182,700), and India (93,400). Kazakhstan currently has 4,499 accommodation facilities offering 95,035 rooms, with total services valued at 268 billion tenge ($529 million) over nine months.
