President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has held a meeting with Minister of Transport Nurlan Sauranbayev to discuss strategies for enhancing the country’s transit and transportation capacity.
During the meeting, the president emphasized the importance of expanding Kazakhstan’s road networks and air hubs to boost freight transit across the country, The Caspian Post reports via Kazinform.
He also highlighted the need for the timely implementation of major infrastructure projects in the railway sector.
In an effort to increase the transport and logistics sector’s contribution to the national GDP, President Tokayev instructed the minister to identify and address bottlenecks in the industry and to reassess current strategies and approaches.
The president also called for a comprehensive set of effective measures aimed at expanding the throughput capacity of Kazakhstan’s transit corridors and reinforcing the country’s role as a vital trade and logistics hub in Eurasia.
This meeting follows a series of recent presidential directives aimed at driving further economic reforms.
