Cirque du Soleil Returns to Kazakhstan After 9-Year Break

The world-renowned circus company Cirque du Soleil is set to return to Kazakhstan for the first time in nine years, bringing its spectacular production OVO to audiences in two major cities this summer.

The troupe will perform from June 4-7 at Barys Arena in Astana, before moving to Almaty Arena in Almaty for shows scheduled June 11-15, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

The performances mark the first official tour by Cirque du Soleil in Central Asia since the troupe appeared in Astana during Expo 2017. Each city will host seven shows, including evening and daytime performances as well as a special weekend morning show.

Tickets will first become available through pre-sale starting March 14 at 12:00 (GMT+5) via the Freedom SuperApp.

The production OVO takes audiences into the colorful and bustling world of an insect colony, combining acrobatics, theatrical storytelling, music, and striking visuals. The show features gravity-defying acts, including trampoline-flying crickets and elegant aerial performances inspired by spiders weaving their webs.

Founded in 1984 in Canada, Cirque du Soleil revolutionized modern circus entertainment by blending acrobatics with theater and visual art. Over the decades, its productions have captivated more than 400 million spectators in 86 countries across six continents, with the company now employing more than 4,000 people, including 1,200 artists from around the world.
