Kazakhstan is set to open its first Ban Mo Workshop, a practical engineering training center based on China’s vocational and technical education model, at Satbayev University.

The new center will give students hands-on experience with modern industrial technologies and production equipment, assisting to bridge the gap between university education and the needs of Kazakhstan’s industrial sector, Kazinform reports.

The project will involve the Scientific and Technical Center of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) as well as a Chinese-Kazakh automotive manufacturer operating in Kazakhstan.

According to Satbayev University, the initiative is designed to strengthen practical engineering education and introduce modern training approaches that are closely aligned with the requirements of the real economy.

“It's important for us that future engineers work with modern equipment, take part in technology projects and gain industrial experience while they are still studying. The Ban Mo Workshop will allow us to tailor student training to the technologies and real-world challenges of our industrial partners,” said Sapar Shalabayev, vice-rector at Satbayev University.

Students participating in the Ban Mo Workshop will be able to put their academic knowledge into practice, master advanced industrial technologies and gain experience modeled on China’s vocational and technical training system.

The university expects the hands-on approach to help produce engineering specialists with skills that are increasingly sought after across Kazakhstan’s industrial sector.
