Kazakhstan and Czech Republic Sign Transport Cooperation Memorandum

Kazakhstan and the Czech Republic have agreed to strengthen cooperation in transport, railways and technology after their transport ministers signed a memorandum of understanding on the sidelines of the 8th New Silk Way International Transport and Logistics Business Forum.

Kazakh Transport Minister Nurlan Sauranbayev and Czech Transport Minister Ivan Bednarik held talks during the forum, according to Kazakhstan’s Transport Ministry.

The discussions focused on expanding bilateral cooperation across the transport sector, including civil aviation and railway services.

Following the meeting, the ministers signed a memorandum aimed at developing strategic cooperation in railway transport, industry and technological advancement.

The agreement is expected to provide a foundation for stronger bilateral ties and expanded mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.

The agreement comes as Kazakhstan pursues ambitious plans to strengthen its position as a major international transport and logistics hub.

The country aims to increase annual cargo transit to 100 million tons by 2034 while expanding the capacity of its seaports and maritime fleet.

Closer cooperation with European partners such as the Czech Republic could support Kazakhstan’s efforts to develop transport infrastructure, improve logistics and strengthen connections between markets across Europe and Asia.
